Eric TAKUKAM is an Advertising Art Director based in Cameroon. Graphic&Textile Designer, Digital Artist and Entrepreneur. He is the founder of the brands: Bo Tchad (www.botchad.com), Numta et Froma.
He has over 16 years of experience in the field of communication. Between November 2010 and February 2017, he was Art Director at Ocean Ogilvy, a communications agency in Cameroon. He has worked on campaigns for Airtel Tchad, Guiness Cameroon, Nestlé, Chococam, Cimencam-Lafarge, Seigneurie, IBC and Azur.
In 2013, he interned at the famous Parisian design studio, NTE (Nous Travaillons Ensemble). Working with creatives at the NTE studio exposed him lengthily to socially engaged art and book publishing. He was the graphic designer for “Vivre Ensemble”; an educative art project sponsored by the French embassy in Chad.
In 2013, he received an aspirational artist award from publishing house, Nathan France, in the “Art Category” for textbooks for final year primary school pupils in French-speaking African countries.
Eric TAKUKAM has designed numerous logos, posters and graphic charters for clients throughout the world: TranfertUnion (USA), SENIG (Gabon), ZIFF (Zanzibar International Films Festival), Africa Continente in Cammino (Italy), Lyndon Hotels (USA), Noteca Engineering (Italy), Tradicom (France) Africa Warmth (USA) Washington Times (USA), Leumen.com (Germany), Astrategik Group (USA), Ilnet Telecoms Group (Chad), Etc.
Designs are first drafted on paper using a pencil or a pen. They are subsequently scanned before they undergo artistic development. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are my favourite software.
Drawn from the cultural heritage of the Grassfield peoples, the ‘Kingdom’ collection is a melange of symbols, ancestral values and everyday life. The goal here is to explore an imaginary world where African culture and traditional values blend with modern life and fashion. It is also a pinch of nostalgia for the ways of old and ancestral values, which are gradually disappearing.
